Just had to make a quick post. Below is my little girl Alexa. She's growing like a weed and this week got her first "real" haircut. She got a little cut a couple months back but this was more of a style since her hair has basically become out of control. My wife Melissa kept asking if she wanted to get her hair cut and she finally said yes. So, we figured she would be ok with it. Since the last time she just screamed and squirmed around. Well, this time she sat like a nice little girl and let the stylist cut her hair with no problem.

Yesterday she went into school and just kept going up to everyone saying, "my haircut". How cute is she? I took this shot on our deck last night. The sun was beating down and I stuck up one of my opaque white umbrellas to soften the light. She was just sitting up on the big girl chair with her sunglasses and drink telling me about her day. Can you tell I'm a proud dad?

Nikki and Sean have a November wedding scheduled but we've had this engagement session set up for some time now. They dropped by this weekend and we drove around Lancaster hitting some really gritty yet beautiful spots.

All week long they were calling for rain around the time of the shoot. Luckily it rained over night giving us a couple of good hours to get this shoot in. It was actually really nice other than the gray skies. It was a bit windy in locations but overall the gray skies made for some beautiful lighting. Both of them were up for anything and the wedding should be more of the same.

Sean is a musician and brought his guitar along for some really interesting shots. He gave me a disk of music from a live performance and I listened while working on these pictures. The music is wonderful, I must say. Thanks for sharing Sean!

We went into Annie Baileys downtown for lunch and outside was a restored Lancaster firetruck with a Mack dog statue on the hood. It was in perfect condition and I thought it was a beautiful spot to hold Nikki's engagement ring for a shot.

It turned out that Annie Bailey's was hosting a fund raiser for childhood cancer and we were happy to patronize them during such a great event.

And of course his parents John and Michelle. I actually shot John and Michelle's wedding a few years back and we now live 3 doors from each other. Today we went down to the Manor Twp. Park to have some fun and let Ben run around the park with my daughter. It was a nice day until the wind picked up. Then it got a bit chilly. Everyone hung in there though and the pictures turned out amazing! I hope you guys enjoy them. Thanks for such a fun day.

Preston and Steve's Cardboard Classic 2009

We drove to Jack Frost Big Boulder this past Friday at 5am. You may be asking, why would you do such a thing? I would answer, to race a sled we made out of cardboard down the tubing hill for a contest held by radio show hosts Preston and Steve from 93.3 WMMR. You were only allowed to make the sled out of cardboard, tape glue and string. It was a blast, around 385 sleds registered and I'd venture to say about 3000-4000 people. It was one of the most fun things I've done in a long time.

We left, as I said, around 5am, got up to JFBB around 7:15. My friend Tim, who helped make the sled, followed us up with his wife Christy. We then finished piecing the sled together when we got there. Then it was time for a little tailgating before getting in line to go up the hill. While we were in line a band preformed on a deck at the bottom of the hill. The band name was Goodman Fiske, and they ROCKED! And yes the deck was one of the registered sleds, made out of cardboard alone. We actually had to push our sleds up the tubing hill before the fun ride down the hill. Then our sled held together so well we were able to make a second run. After waiting through most of the sleds we made our way back up the hill for the second run which was almost more fun than the first. After the second run, we knew the sleds were getting shredded so, Tim decided he wanted to flop on the sled just for fun. He only got a little injured but he's fine and we had an amazing time! My favorite sled of the day was the General Lee. Anyone who was a fan of the Dukes of Hazzard has to agree with me on this. It was amazing and even had a working horn rigged with the DofH horn.

Snow Geese!

I went to the Middle Creek Wildlife preserve with the Lancaster Co. Photography Meet-Up group on Sunday. It was a cold snowy morning but the birds were just an amazing view. It was worth getting up at 4:30am and braving the elements to witness. Below are just a couple of pics for now. I'll post more later. Stay tuned for updates.

I met up with my friend Joel to get my cameras hand strap that I lent him back. While there, I figured what the heck? I'll take some shots. It was a beautiful day with a bright blue sky. The ducks and geese were around hanging out and just waiting to have their pictures taken.

So, I got a few overall pictures and some of the fowl just hanging out. Then, something spooked them (probably Joel and I) and I got some fun shots of them flying away. I have to say that Longs Park is one of my favorite places to photograph. It's just beautiful, no matter how cold and windy it was. :)

It was a terrific Valentines day which started off with giving my wife her gold rose that I picked up. Along with a 2'x3' V-day card. Followed by some family time walking around the mall and checking out some deals. My wife got me a gift card for Lids (the hat store) since I lost my favorite UNC hat and needed to replace it. We then were lucky enough to have grandparents watch Alexa while we went out to dinner at the Olive Garden. I love the Tour of Italy! It's my fave, mmmmmm! As we were leaving OG, it had just started snowing. But these flakes were the biggest flakes I've ever seen. They were at least 1-2 inches in diameter. Falling in what seemed to be blizzard fashion, without the wind. So, we slid into Barnes and Nobles for some coffee, tea and to check out a few books. We then made it home in time to read a bit to our daughter and sit down to enjoy a movie. But not any movie, "our" movie, Serendipity. The movie has a special meaning to us, it's very similar to how we met and came together. Anyway, enough with the sap.

I'm posting the picture below of Philly because I took it on my trip with my friend Tim down there while lying to my wife. I told her I was going to help someone move while the whole intent of the trip was to buy her the gold rose from Steven Singer Jewelers. Tim and I haven't been down there together for a long time. We went to college down there together and it was like old times. Anyway, enjoy the Philly skyline from a bridge above the Schuylkill River. Have a good week.

By the way, a little more story about this picture. The picture, like I said, was taken on a bridge over the Schuylkill River. However there was a 7ft high chain link fence up that I had to stretch my hand and camera up over to get some shots of the city. Needless to say I almost dropped my brand new C5-D2 over the fence. Luckily I had the strap wrapped around my arm enough to prevent that. :) I'll do just about anything to get a shot I guess.

Lancaster Co Photo Meetup.com - Lighting Seminar

This past Saturday I was honored to help teach at a lighting seminar run by the Lancaster Co. Photo Meet Up group that I'm involved with. Along with my friend Brian who help run the show, Joel who did a great slide show presentation and some teaching. José, Brian and John who all did some teaching as well. We had about 30 people show up to gain some knowledge about lighting techniques as well as set ups.

Each station had a slightly different theme/setup. There was a set up with a blue background, hot lights and gels. A single light set up with a black background. A multi light set up with an orange background, and an industrial wood shop background with a 4 light set up that was run by a lot of Pocket Wizards. There was one pocket wizard on the power pack running the lights and about 8-10 extra PWs that everyone was snapping with. And since the models that we got free for the shoot were women, guess where all the guys ended up at one point. Needless to say it stayed pretty tame, we didn't want to offend anyone since there was good mix of people there. The setup that I was in charge of was a 2 light setup dealing with the effects of strobes/flashes and ambient light. It was going great, I brought my laptop and tethered my camera to it so everyone could see what I was doing and what was being affected when I changed my settings.

After I got a bit of shooting in at a few of the other stations I grabbed one of the models and a couple students and we walked the halls of the high school we were occupying. We took a few flashes and I was showing them how to do the same thing I did using the strobes with their own flashes. It was a great time and I'm looking forward to next months Meet Up.

Finally in the hallways of the school. We used two flashes off camera right to create this interesting lighting with a little ambient in the hallway down the right side.

This week I have an assignment for my photographers at the Magazine. I give out a monthly assignment to keep the creative juices flowing. This weeks assignment was Black and White. I have to admit, I was having some trouble with my creativity this past month, simply because of all the meetings I've had, as well as the wedding show that I did in January. Well, I had seen some smoke pics of a different flavor, and thought I'd give it a go for my assignment.

I wanted to keep it simple, so I simply used a black wall. Then set up two cold lights behind the smoke on 45º angles. Then put GoBos between the lights and the lens. I had a small candle sitting on a table and had a friend light the candle and then quickly blow it out. The smoke feathered up nicely. We tried it a few times, and this was my favorite. I went to visit a good friend of mine, John, on Saturday. He recently had a new addition to his family. John and Kim welcomed Bryson Costa into this world back at the end of December and he asked me to take some family pictures of them. It was a lot of fun as it normally is when I hang out with them, but now with Bryson in the picture, it makes it so much more special. It was great to meet you Bryson and I hope you guys enjoy the pictures.

First I'd like to thank all of the brides and grooms to be, moms and friends, who attended the Bridal Show at the Host this past Sunday. It was a great turn out and there were a lot of great vendors. With all that was going on, I'd like to thank the 100's that stopped by my booth to chat and look at my work. Speaking of my work, I'd like to thank everyone for all of the wonderful comments on my groomsmen in the cornfield picture. It seemed to be a big hit. I was also informed this morning that I was the coupon contest winner for the show which means you'll be seeing me back there next year.

OK, so the pic of the week was actually taken by my lovely wife, but I'm in it. Yeah, that's me left of middle. This is a group of people I went to high school with. We graduated 12 years ago together but haven't seen each other since. We haven't had a class reunion, but thank goodness for websites like Facebook and MySpace so we could reconnect and get together.

We ended up meeting up at a little bar back near where I grew up in Montgomery, PA. It was fun to see everyone and find out what they were up too. We had a pretty good time and are already thinking about doing it again next year.

OK, I hate the cold, but it creates some great photos. We went up to a little town in northern PA called Antrim to visit with family. While I was up there I got out on a little hike, just to take some pictures. It was bitter cold but a fun walk. I wish I would have seen more wildlife, but I guess they were smart and sleeping in at that time of the morning.

I met up with my Lancaster Co Photographers Meet-Up group this past Saturday at the Lancaster Science Factory. One of the members, Janet, works there and was kind enough to let us in for free to shoot the place. I'll be donating a few pics to the non profit organization to hopefully help them with any marketing materials they may create in the future. I'm all for science, especially when it comes to teaching our kids.

After we went to Lancaster Brewing Co. (I've been there a lot lately) for a little lunch and photography talk. It was a good time and I got to meet a bunch of new peeps. That's what is the best about the group. It was a great time. I look forward to the January meet up and I hope everyone enjoys the couple pics I'm putting up in here.

Not sure what this was, it basically worked on gravity and just dribbled sand out on a black surface. Glad I don't have to clean it up.

This was a set up that allowed you to shine red, green or blue light or all at the same time from different angles on a subject. This was a white wire basket.

Not sure of the name of this, but it made a liquid tornado when the water went down out of the soda bottle into an attached soda bottle below.

My friend Tim had a surprise 30th birthday party for his wife Christy on Saturday. We were happy to attend and take a few pictures for him. It was a good time had by all. Tim normally goes all out on his parties, and he made this one very special for his wife. Happy Birthday Christy!

OK, so I was pretty busy the last couple of weeks and missed a few Pic of the Week posts, sorry about that. Well, just thought I'd take this time and say that I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and that you're upcoming Holiday shopping is going well.

Oh, and this turkey below, he was tasty! I fried him up for some family that came over for the Thanksgiving holiday. We also watched the Macy's parade, some football and played some Wii. Hope you all had as much fun as I did!

The Sheaffers 50th Anniversary

I was contacted by Sheri Brainski with Lighthearted Events to photograph a 50th Anniversary for Dr. and Mrs. Sheaffer. The event was at the Yorktowne Hotel and they had no idea that their kids created such a wonderful event for them. Dr. and Mrs. Sheaffer actaully had their reception at the Yorktowne 50 years ago. They came into a small room that was set up for an hors d'oeuvres and were shocked into tears to see all of their family and friends from across the country. Figuring on just a small dinner they were expecting that or what came next. They were then shuffled down the hall to another, larger, room that was decked to the 9's. It was beautiful as you'll see. I was so happy to be able to photograph this event for them. Congratulations on 50 years!

The Burns Family

So, I went over to the Burns house for a family photoshoot. I work with Diane and her sister Shelly at Clipper. We went outside even though it was blustery and cold. Then inside for a few more pictures. Yes the dogs even got into a few pictures. It was a lot of fun, enjoy the pics.

Well a special Pic of the week. Congratulations to my friends John and Garnett who had their second child, a boy, Aiden on October 31, 2008. We finally got over to see them since they got home. Seems like everything is going well and Aiden is giving them a little break by only waking up every 3-4 hours. Congrats guys, he's a cutie!

Lancaster city has some great architecture that I learned of when Beth Cardwell met with my family to do some pictures. I managed to talk Jami and Rob into doing some photos downtown for their engagement session. We had a great time and even though Jami was a bit nervous to start. Things loosened up as we walked down an alley and then it was fun and free sailing from there. What a great time, enjoy them.

OK, a small plug to my Bday. I'm less happy about it than I was last year.

Anyway, here is my pic of the week for this week. This tree has been changing slowly out front of work for the past 2 weeks or so. I kept saying, "I need to get a picture of that thing before it fully changes over".

I finally took the time to stop and snap a few. It is just a beautiful view of the tree with a bright blue sky behind. Enjoy!

How many pumpkins could a little girl pick, if a little girl could pick pumpkins?

We took our daughter Alexa out to the Country Barn Farm Market to pick her first pumpkin. She had a blast! Everything from riding on the bumpy tractor, to seeing the animals was so much fun. However, the act of actually picking the pumpkins was a bit tough due to the high grass and such that made it tough for even myself and Melissa to walk through. We all had a bunch of fun though. Lindsay & Tim Engagement

You would think it wouldn't be tough to come up with a woodsy location in PA, but Lindsay finally found this great place below York called Lake Redman. Well we got there and decided that the next lake over (Lake Williams) was a better spot. So we spent some time in two locations there and then headed over to a park with a kids playset for some fun! It was a crisp fall morning that couldn't have been more beautiful for this shoot which actually got pushed back from a rainy day a few weeks back. Thanks for such a fun time guys, I think it really shows through. Enjoy the pics.

I met up with Nicole and her mom Bev Saturday morning for some senior pictures for Nicole. We started out walking around the beautiful little town of Marietta, PA. Then it was off to Little Chickies creek for some field and stream fun. Nicole was so much fun and easy to shoot. I hope you like this short set for now.

Just have a quick post this time. I went to Philly with my wife and daughter on Friday. I was able to sit in on a radio show called The Preston And Steve Show while they interviewed guests and just had fun. When I arrived I was listening in my car and realized that the big guest that morning was going to Kevin and Mike Bacon. So, I was able to get in at the last minute and meet them both as well as get a picture with them. Ok, I'll stop name droppin' now. :) Have a good Monday!

So, like I have nothing else to do, I thought I should give myself a little project. So, once a week I'm going to post a new picture that I think is beautiful. It won't necessarily be any theme, but just something that I was proud of shooting during that week.

This week I photographed an engagement session of Lindsay and Tim, you'll see the post soon. We met at Williams Lake below York, PA. I got there early so I decided to take a few pics of the lake. It was beautiful and the colors on the leaves are just now changing. It's a great time of year, with Penn State winning and fall coming in. I love this time if year. Well enjoy this pic for now. Just a beautiful day for Ben Leed's birthday party. With some lunch and some kids toys going on. We made it over to John and Michelle Leeds home for their son Ben's birthday party. It was a fun time with good food and we were glad to be able to make it over. They are such a good looking family. Congrats on your big day Ben!

Karen & Eric Wedding 10/04/08

What could be better than a crisp fall day? How about a beautiful wedding added into the mix? That's what type of day we had for Karen & Eric. It couldn't have been nicer out. A few overhead clouds here and there, with some nice sunshine and a slight cool breeze.

The wedding held at Trinity Luthern Church in Mt. Joy, PA. We then went to Overlook GC for a few beautiful pictures with one of the most beautiful sunsets ever! Then off to the Eden Resort for a fun reception. It was a great day and I'm so happy for you both. Enjoy this tease of pictures for now.

Paige & Joe Wedding Day 09/27/08

The weather in the Northeast has been pretty wet over the past couple of months. Especially on days when I've been photographing weddings. This held true for Paige & Joe's wedding day, unfortunately. But we made the best of it and got some fun stuff.

The wedding was held at St. Joan of Arc in Hershey, with the reception at the Purcell Friendship Hall in Hershey.

It's time for the 2008 Ephrata Street Fair. One of the largest street fairs on the East Coast. This year was kinda last minute since we didn't even realize it was going on until the day before. We still had a bunch of fun and Alexa got to ride her first rides. She couldn't have had more fun! Enjoy the pictures.

I have to thank Katie Trefry at http://www.katytrefryphotography.com/ for asking me to help her out and photograph the wedding of Kate and Tim. It was a warm and humid day on Saturday. Their wedding was below the pool at the sunken fountain with the reception just below that. It was beautiful how it overlooked the Susquehanna.

We started out shooting at the house with the girls. Got some inside stuff before going outside and praying that the rain stayed away.

Then it was up to the pool to meet with the guys. We got some shots of them goofing around near the pool. They were a fun bunch. Then I scared Tim half to death by taking a few shots of their rings while they were on his should. The reason he was so scared, I had him standing right next to the pool.

The wedding went off without a hitch, and only a slight sprinkle during it for a minute or two. Then some family and bridal party pictures in the courtyard of the mansion. The sun actually came out as well. Then some stuff with just Tim and Kate before we were off to the reception. It started off like many other receptions. But when the alcohol started flowing, things got interesting. Family singing karaoke, lots of crazy dancing, and even the Thriller dance by the brides brothers, mom and the bride. It was a great time and I was thankful to be able to be a part of it.

We started in the house and the light was beautiful at the landing in the second floor of the stairs.

Again, with the beautiful light making Kate look even more beautiful.

Through the large bushes, Tim was a trooper even with the humidity.

So, a big thank you to Hurricane Hanna for washing out the day! At least you made the wedding of Rita and Corey interesting if nothing else. Rita and Corey had this beautiful plan to be married outside on her families property. However, Hurricane Hanna had other plans. So, last minute changes were made and they had the wedding at this cute little church that was close by.

Everything turned out just wonderful anyway, and what Hanna took away for most of the day, she made up for in a big way at the end of the day. You'll see if you scroll down just how beautiful and amazing the end of this day was.

The day started off with Peanut Butter Jelly Time! My favorite jingle from the Family Guy!

The guys got ready at the NW EMS station. It made for some really great, interesting shots like this one in the middle of the station floor.

I thought this one was really cool as well. Corey was more than willing to get in the Ambulance for a few shots.

Then it was off to the church to take some shots of Rita. The lightin in this one is just beautiful!

Windows are great for lighting, so dramatic.

How beautiful is she here?!?! Had to tone this one, it just cried out for it.

We got outside (although it was under the porch) for a few shots.

We walked across the street where we found some flowers to shoot near.

On the way back across the street, we saw the most beautiful double rainbow ever. I've never seen anything like it! The whole day was wet and soggy, but this more than made up for it.

Merideth & Troy Engagement Session 08/31/08

I met up with Merideth and Troy for their engagement session down at Lock 12. Located below the Holtwood Dam, Lock 12 was new to me but was certainly a wonderful place to do an engagement session. It was a warm one, however I gave them a chance to cool down. Yep, got them in the river. It was a really fun time with some great locations in the water and in the woods.

We started out walking down to the water. We were a little worried however, the alarm for the dam was going off signaling they opened it up and were letting water loose. We weren't sure how high the water may go up, so we took our time and kept and eye on the water levels. Needless to say, they didn't move much the whole time. We skipped around the rocks for a while and even had them in the water before moving back into the woods. We then walked around this large rock formation and it was just amazing, creating some really interesting shots. Thanks for suggesting this place guys! It was a lot of fun and I'm going to have to go back down there in the future for some hiking and maybe some swimming. Enjoy the pics, and thanks for a great time.

Wenz Family Portrait Session 08/30/08

I kicked of the Labor day weekend with a fun family shoot. I met the Wenz family, (Keith, Merideth, Ashley, Amber and Avery) at the Millersville Pond bright and early Saturday morning. We started off by the pond, went around the back side of the pond so that little Avery could see the swans. We got some pictures of each girl, then moved down the path towards the waterfall behind the café.

From there Avery started to get more into things, running around and having fun trying to touch my equipment. After she got bored with me, we decided to try keeping her looking at the camera with some keys. Needless to say that held her for only a short time as well. Then it was a walk back toward the smaller section of the pond to finish things up and let Avery chase a duck around. She was having so much fun saying duck and seeing all the ducks and swans. It was the perfect place to go to keep her going and get some really beautiful shots. Thanks for a fun morning guys!

I met up with Febes, Josh and their son Adriel at Grubb Lake for some family portraits. I work with Febes and we've been talking about going out to get shots like this for a while. It's may have turned out for the best since Adriel is now walking! He was so adorable, and so good in front of the camera. He was just a ham and was so interested in my camera and flashes.

I was doing a little Strobist work for this shoot. I was pretty happy with most of it. The lighting under the trees surrounding Grubb was perfect for shots but I was trying to make these pics really POP for such a great family. Febes I was so happy to be able to photograph you and your family. Thanks for asking me to do this, it was so much fun! Enjoy!

Paige & Joe Engagement Session

It's going to be a beautiful time for Paige and Joe in September. For now we finally got an Engagement Session in for them. They made the drive up from Virginia for the weekend. Paige was coming up for her Brides night out with the girls. We were supposed to do the shoot on Thursday, however traffic in north Virginia changed those plans. Luckily I was able to do the shoot on Friday.

We met up at the site of the reception, Purcell Hall in Hershey, PA. There was a rehearsal for another wedding going on, but we managed to stay out of their way and still get some great shots in! Enjoy the pics!

Jen & Eric Rehearsal & Wedding

It was a whirlwind couple of days for Jen and Eric. I had the opportunity to hang out through the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner on Thursday night. What a blast! The rehearsal was at the Hempfield UM church and was pretty easy going. But the rehearsal dinner at the Pressroom was just so much fun with laughter and tears. It was a great time!

On the wedding day I started out at Jen's parents house. The house was full of bridesmaids and readers and parents... oh my! Jen's dog even got into the mix, he was a bit shy and wasn't quite sure what was going on, but we made sure he had his time with his mommy.

Then it was off to the church for a few pics with the groomsmen. They were quite the crew. We had some fun on the swingset and behind the church. Then it was hurry up and wait time. The girls showed up and everyone was so excited/nervous. The wedding went off without a hitch though. It was so beautiful. The Hempfield UM is a beautiful church! After a few family shots in the church, we scurried down to the Pressroom for some shots in Steinman Park. In and out in under 20 minutes. It was a crazy pace but fun and we got a lot of beautiful shots in there.

For the 3rd wedding straight I found myself at the Eden Resort for a reception. I know my way around that place pretty well now I'd say. The reception was in the Grand Ballroom, which is a much easier room to photograph in than the Courtyard. All of the Eden rooms are just beautiful though!

I have to thank everyone from this wedding, from the families of Jen and Eric to the bridal party. Everyone made me feel welcome and like I was part of the fun. It was a great time, thank you all! Now enjoy the pictures!

Well, sorry for the long pause. Been busy with weddings and other shoots, along with life. I thought I'd just throw a picture out there of a big reason why I keep so busy.

This is Alexa and she's my only baby. Turning 2 in a couple of months, and already hitting the terrible twos. I love her to death though, and she keeps me running all over the place. Her new favorite words are booberries, Tubbies (TeleTubbies), and No.

I also have to put a picture of my lovely wife who has gone through so much this year. She is doing better now, and still trying to get her thyroid medication levels evened out. Kathryn & Patrick Wedding 08/10/08

It was a Sunday wedding for Kathryn and Patrick. They were married in Lancaster with a reception at the Eden. Most of the day turned out to be beautiful. However there were a few scary moments as you'll see below when the clouds rolled in and decided for us that we were done shooting. We did manage to get some beautiful shots in and the day turned out to be great overall. Just remember that a little rain on the wedding day is supposed to be good luck. I'm not sure how much good luck torrential rains bring but I'm sure it's a lot. Congratulations to you both, it was a lot of fun dodging the lightening and certainly something I won't forget.

Candice and Larry's day started with it looking a bit stormy. And with a things running a little late, especially a groomsman, worries were running high. However, the groomsman made it just in time, the wedding went off without a hitch. Then it was off to the Millersville Pond for some portraits of the bride and groom. As soon as we were done there the rain then came, but luckily we got all the pictures in. Then off to the reception where things couldn't have gone better. Everyone up dancing and having a great time. Thanks for all the fun guys. Hope you enjoy the pictures.

Can't you just tell how in love they are? They had no problem showing their affection for one another.

The courtyard at the Eden, it has a special place in my heart as it's where my reception for my wedding was. Every time I shoot a wedding here it is just spectacular.

So, this ring shot needs a little explanation. The bride and groom had a couple of stuffed animals at the head table, this little critter was one of them. I just love this shot!

Oh, and did I mention they had a bunch of fun! Everyone had a great time dancing and hanging out. It was a lot of fun.

Rebecca & Cory Wedding

It was a fun and HOT day for Rebecca and Cory's wedding. Started out at Rebecca's parents for the girls getting ready. It was a bit warm, but Rebecca had all the makeup and stuff ready for the girls to make themselves up.

Once we got done with a few formals of the girls, it was off to the church to meet up with the guys. I found them relaxing in the air conditioned church and of course drug them outside into the heat. They didn't seem to mind too much. The church and ceremony were beautiful. Everything went off without a hitch.

Once the formals in the church were finished it was off to Founders Hall in Hershey for some fun formals of the newlyweds. We had fun there, although there was another wedding party having pictures done there as well. We worked around each other with no problems.

At the reception, it was a lemonade fest. You'll see below what I'm talking about. With Terry, a DJ from B&B Light & Sound http://www.b-n-b-discjockeys.com got things going and kept people up and dancing all night in the outdoor reception. Everyone had lots of fun, especially once he broke out the hats. Thanks for a great time. Enjoy the pics.

Kim & Rob Engagement Session - 07.13.08

I met up with Kim & Rob at French Creek State Park just above Morgantown, PA. We started out shooting some pics down a path and against some trees. Then got a little closer to the lake. Actually we got so close that I was able to talk them into getting into the lake, which didn't matter because within 10 minutes it was pouring down rain. So, we ran back to the cars just in time for the rain to let up. So, what to do but go back out, wet and all, and take a few more pics. We had a good time. Thanks for being such good sports, even though the weather didn't cooperate. I hope you enjoy the pictures.

The forest was full of greens and shrubbery, I thought this fern worked well as a foreground addition to them.

Here they are by the lake, a little bright green moss to brighten up the foreground worked as a nice lead in.

Getting wet in the lake. They seemed comfortable enough to get wrapped up in the moment with each other. Of course, being the good photographer that I am, I had to get in with them. The water was so warm by the way.

This was a fun shot, Rob started to pick Kim up backwards and I snapped this shot. It's quite fun I think.

Running back to the cars in the rain. Kim covered up with Robs shirt and hat as she was wearing white.

Back out after the rain proved to be the right thing to do. They were more relaxed because we were all so wet, that it didn't matter if they got a little more wet or dirty and we just had a lot of fun.

Finally we took a few shots on the steps that lead down to the pool. A few wet dirty steps didn't really matter at this point after rain and wet grass.

Karen & Eric Engagement Session 06/28/08

I met up with Karen and Eric at the Lancaster Co Park on a warm Saturday evening. The rain had been off and on all day long, but we decided to chance it and go for it. It turned out to be beautiful and the rain went away completely. When we first got there we were greeted by a dog that seemed to be lost. Eventually his owner came looking for him with a park ranger. We then took some time walking around the 5 Senses portion of the park. It's just beautiful with the water features and the flowers. So here are some of my favorites, enjoy!

Lindsay & Jonathan Wedding

Congratulations to Lindsay & Jonathan. When I showed up for the wedding at the Millersville Zion Church, it was a bit cloudy and looking like rain. Well, by the time I started taking pictures of the guys the sun came out. Although it was really humid and hot, we had a good time shooting some stuff outside. Then it was the girls turn, thing were running a bit behind so we just squeezed in a few bridal shots.

The wedding went smooth (thanks to my wife who did wonderful job as the coordinator) and we moved into the family shots. Then it was back outside for some wedding party and bride/groom shots. Before you knew it, it was off to Cameron Estates for some more bride/groom shots alone. We started off pretty tame, but down at the creek it was so warm that Lindsay wanted to hop into the creek. So, as a photographer who can roll with it, I told them to go ahead and get in, and they did. It was so much fun, however they said it was ICE cold!

Then it was time for fun at the reception where they had little pine trees as favors. It was a great time guys, I'm so thankful for the opportunity to photograph your wedding.

Holly & Matt 06/07/08

We were with Holly and Matt for their big day up in Lehigh County, PA. It was a scorcher. Sunny to begin with, it quickly changed to sunny, muggy and just really uncomfortable, but through all of this the bride and groom turned it into a wonderful day. With coolers filled with ice and bottles of water, and a pavilion with ceiling fans, we got through everything wonderfully. And most important, they are now husband and wife with their lives ahead of them. Congratulations guys! Hope you had a great honeymoon!

What a beautiful Memorial day weekend! It couldn't have been nicer for Chris and Amanda to have their wedding at a local winery. The day was perfect, everything went pretty smooth, and most important, Chris and Amanda are married and off on their honeymoon! Congrats guys and thank you for allowing me to photograph your beautiful day. It was a blast, enjoy these few photos that will wet your mouth for more to come.

Such an early day had to start off with a big cup of caffeine! Yum, yum... WaWa!

Amanda plays the bagpipes, so she wanted a picture of her helping to tune the pipers. Well after she did that she came around and gave him this face. Kind of like, is that the best you got? It was really funny!

During the wedding, there was a small issue with the wind and the Unity Candle. Needless to say it found the ground and this was the reaction from the bride and groom. It worked out though and they ended up doing that part of the ceremony in the reception.

The coat came off towards the end of the night. Then it was time to party!

Melissa's Cancer Surgery 5/22/08

Well, it's been a tough week for my wife Melissa. Having to have her Thyroid Cancer surgically removed on Tuesday the 20th. She was stuck in the hospital until this morning when they took the tube out of her neck and let her go home. She's resting and doing well at the moment. I felt uncomfortable at the hospital, so what made me feel better? My camera of course. Here are a few pics I took while she was having her surgery. Please feel free to pray for my wife's quick recovery and for her to not have any more cancer to have to deal with. This is the second kind this year that we've had to deal with having removed.

The front of LGH looks like a grand museum or something with it's graphic structure and water fountain with surrounding flowers. It's almost beautiful!

I walked back and forth to this parking lot way too many times. Her room was in the back of the hospital. It must have been almost a 1/3 of a mile walk to and from her room each time.

The front lobby looked like something out of a fancy hotel. It's just amazing!

Mothers Day 2008

It was an interesting Mother's Day weekend. My dad and step mom were visiting from New Hampshire. Friday night we hung out inside and made dinner. Saturday I played football in the afternoon, then we grilled on the deck. Then Alexa got a little sick and we ended up in the ER until 3am. Sunday (Mother's Day) we went to the 19th annual Make A Wish Truck Convoy. It's always a good time, however Alexa wasn't feeling well still so we didn't hang out long. Melissa and her mom worked a game table this year instead of their normal volunteering in the food tent. I'm pretty sure it was a little less stressful than normal. Finally on Sunday night we ate dinner out, at Culturas. The new Tapas restaurant at El Serrano Restaurant. The food was sooooo good and it's so beautiful in there, we had just and amazing time. I recommend it highly! Hope everyone else had a good time for Mother's day.

Brandywine Valley Wine Tour

We went to the Brandywine River Valley this past weekend for a wine tour. We stayed at the Brandywine Hotel which had a package with tickets for a wine tour to the 5 local wineries. The first winery was VaLa, followed by Paradocx, then Kreutz Creek and finally to Chaddsford all on Saturday. Then we went to dinner at Pace One which was an amazing restaurant in Avondale. Of course I had to stop at WaWa afterwards for some Gadzooks ice cream from Preston and Steve for my dessert. After we got up on Sunday we checked out from the hotel and had brunch at the local Brandywine Restaurant. It was just an amazing place first of all, and the brunch was unlike anything I've experienced before. Anyway, enjoy the pictures!

Lancaster Co Photo Meetup.com Group - Shenks

So, Sunday I went to meet with a group of crazies, like myself, to photograph some wildflowers at Shenks Ferry Wildlife Preserve in Pequea, southern Lancaster Co. It was just beautiful on a slightly small path that paralleled a little creek. As you can see I met a bunch of new people and everyone had a great time. Well, until the rains came. Although, it wasn't a complete washout and everyone got some great shots. It was a chilly fun day in Philly for Cory and Rebecca. We started their engagement session at Fairmount Park on Kelly Drive near Boathouse Row. Then we moved on to the famous Philadelphia Art Museum where we had some fun on the museum steps overlooking the city. Then we did some walking around in Love Park and in the Game Park in Center City Philly. Overall it was a lot of fun and I created some beautiful images for them. We had a great time even though parking is always a challenge in Philly. Thanks for a fun great day in Philly you guys!
